I forget. Until I'm doing it, I forget how the creating itself ignites me, how shaping letters, choosing words, marrying a melody to an emotion charges me. It is almost always true, and I almost always forget until I'm there. Why do I postpone or cancel my tryst with my passionate self?

Thank you, Dawn-- I appreciate the selection. The work you are doing to support writing and journaling is incredible, and your commitment to it speaks volumes for how authentic you are with your passion for writing.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to join your journal chat at 5, as I will be online meeting with my own group of writers at that time. Best of luck, and I look forward to reading the transcript when you publish it. ~rus

Rus,
You have hit on another vital dimension of our lives: Imagination. We really do need to make space for what may seem like something we don't have time for. Our minds and imaginations need refreshment on a regular basis and 'moodling' in our journals is the perfect remedy for that!

I have chosen your post, Smash365: Imagination, for the #JournalChat Pick of the Day on 4/4/12 for all things journaling on Twitter; I will post a link on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, my blog and website Refresh with Dawn Herring, and in Refresh Journal, my weekly e-journal: http://www.refreshwithdawnherring.blogspot.com/.

#JournalChat Live is each Thursday at 5 EST/2 PST for all things journaling on Twitter; our topic tomorrow is Your Journaling: When You Hurt.

Thanks again for this imaginative dimension of writing/journaling.

Be refreshed,
Dawn Herring

Rus,
This post truly resonated with me. I love the idea of releasing the energy that comes from the good, positive things in our lives and how we can tap into that energy to deal with the struggles or negativity we face. We all have some good we can re-energize ourselves with!

[...] My best creative work comes when I have intense focus in whatever project I’m working on. I get distracted VERY easily. I’ve struggled with that (ADHD) my whole life. The best working environment for me is clutter-free, organized, and quiet. But, I rarely have the chance to work in that “ideal” work environment. What are the distractions in your life that keep you from remaining focused on establishing a creative habit or committing to a creative project? -Smash365 writing prompt [...]
