Smash365: Imagination
Nov 30, 2011 by rus vanwestervelt
Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. ~Albert Einstein
Think back to younger days when imagination ruled your day. Did you abandon your imagination for more “grown-up” ideas and responsibilities? Grant yourself the space to be imaginative today and write on any of the following topics (or create your own!):
- While trying on rings at a jewelry store, you slip on an heirloom ring and are immediately transported to another time. Where do you go? Why there?
- While digging snow tunnels in the backyard, you uncover a secret passage that is not normally there. Where does it lead to?
- While driving to a relative’s house, you notice that, with each turn, you go back further in time. What period in time is it when you reach your destination? What is the significance of being in this place, at this time?

My response to the third option for this prompt: http://rusvw.net/blog/archives/2032. This gives me some new ideas for a story that I didn’t have 15 minutes ago!
