Smash365: Truth

Jul 21, 2011 by

The transformation has already started, and it always begins with you.  Do you have the courage to be completely honest with yourself, to see the truth about how you write your story? Do you have the courage to see your superstitions and lies?  Do you have the courage to review what you believe you are? Perhaps you’re thinking, “I don’t know.” But you’re taking the challenge.  You’re transforming your dream, and it’s happening right now because what you’re doing is unlearning all your lies.  – Don Miguel Ruiz, The Fifth Agreement

What lies do you believe about yourself?  That you’re not good enough? Too fat? Not smart enough? Aren’t qualified for that job? Can’t afford to quit the job you hate? Can’t lose weight?  List the beliefs you have about yourself that are holding you back.  Then ask yourself, for each one, “Is this true? Or is this a lie I tell myself?”

  1. Cara,
This journaling prompt is powerful. I was struck by its vast importance of deciphering the lies we believe about ourselves. Journaling our lies can help us break them down and rebuild with truth from the ground up.

I have chosen your post, Smash365:Truth, for the #JournalChat Pick of the Day on 7/21/11 for all things journaling on Twitter. I will post a link on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, my blog Refresh with Dawn Herring, and in Refresh Journal which you can sign up for here: http://refreshwithdawnherring.blogspot.com/.

You’re also welcome to join us for #JournalChat Live on Thursdays at 4 CST/2 PST for all things journaling on Twitter through my @JournalChat account.

Thanks again for such a powerful prompt. It’s one we can all learn from. Begin creating truth for ourselves!

    Be refreshed,
