Smash365: Uninhibited

Don’t get it right; just get it written. ~James Thurber

Our inner critic stops us all too often from creating the works of our imagination. Why? Because we put too much emphasis on getting it right the first time.

Writing doesn’t work like that. Like Thurber said, you need to just get it written so you have a body of writing to work with.

Today, write about any animal’s inner thoughts. Don’t try to get it right the first time (what is even “right” for this topic anyway?); instead, play as you write. Take risks with how you bring those inner thoughts to light.

If you like what you wrote, there is plenty of time to revise and refine. For now, just cherish the beauty of writing uninhibitedly.
